Meaning
The stranger's fire burns on the mountain. In transit and foreign places, success comes through modesty, caution, and light baggage.
Fire on the mountain does not stay: it burns the grass where it finds it and moves on — the traveler's condition, at home nowhere and therefore obliged to carry worth internally. The wanderer's code is exact: modest, cautious, quick to pay, slow to quarrel, and never entangled in disputes that outlast the visit.

In a connection where circumstances keep you provisional — long distance, transitions, uncertain futures — courtesy and lightness preserve what possessiveness would crush.
